The Egyptian Expeditionary Force invaded the Ottoman Empire via Sinai and Palestine. They were stopped in Gaza when the Ottomans defeated them in March and then another Battle in April of 1917. Early Nov 1917 during the Third Battle of Gaza they were able to break through the Ottoman defenses and on Nov 7 1917 they occupied Gaza.
